Family-friendly celebration planned for Liberty Pole lighting

The lighting of the Liberty Pole is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday in Downtown Rochester, followed by a family-friendly evening of fun.

A Downtown Rochester holiday tradition is coming up tomorrow, with the annual lighting of the Liberty Pole.

The gathering starts at 4:30 p.m., with lighting itself is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by a parade from the Liberty Pole to Martin Luther King Jr. Park at Manhattan Square.

From there, free ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides and crafts will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Kara Osipovitch, the city's special events manager, joined us on Good Day Rochester to run down all the festivities.
