How to discuss teen suicide with your kids

Pat and Christina Dadey shared the story of their daughter, Kenna, in hopes of helping other parents before it's too late.

Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among teens in the United States. It's part of the reason Kenna Dadey's parents are speaking out. The 13-year-old from Chili recently took her own life. In an exclusive interview with 13WHAM's Ginny Ryan, Pat and Christina Dadey said Kenna had been treated for anxiety, which was made worse by bullying and social media.

With teen suicide becoming a bigger problem, we brought in Dr. Elizabeth Meeker from Coordinated Care Services to discuss how parents can talk to their teens about suicide, which many think of as a taboo topic.
