Mother's Day Jewelry Shop opening for select RCSD students
The Rochester City School District has a program in place for students looking to get their mothers a gift for Mother's Day.
This is the sixth year for the Mother's Day Jewelry Shop program. Students at selected city schools who may not otherwise have the means to purchase a Mother’s Day gift work toward goals established by the school to earn a “ticket” into the shop. The goals typically focus on improved attendance.
This year's selected RCSD schools are No. 29 and No. 41, which will also have an essay contest that will award $50 Visa gift cards to one fifth and sixth grade student at each school. They can also earn a pizza party for their class.
Erika Stanat, Mother's Day Shop program chairwoman, joined us to discuss this year's event, along with Tiffany Lee, assistant principal at School No. 41, and Betsy Hoffer, RCSD associate director of student attendance.
