Lock 32 transformed into world-class whitewater park

Lock 32 Whitewater Park has been redesigned to include a freestyle kayaking course.

Lock 32 in Pittsford is New York state's only man-made whitewater park.

Local adventure athlete Paul Twist has been working this summer to rebuild the park into a world-class facility along the canal off Clover Street.

Lock 32 will be celebrating with Lockapalooza Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The park will be open to the public for free, with a variety of activities including learn-to-kayak sessions, open paddling, BoaterCross, a duck derby and more. There will also be food, music and other entertainment.

Paul Twist and John Courain, director of operations at Genesee Waterways, joined us on Good Day Rochester to talk more about the event and what's offered at Lock 32.
