Spike Lee film inspired by local writer playing this week

David Taylor discusses his role in the 1994 Spike Lee-produced film "Drop Squad," playing Friday night at The Little.

Henrietta native David Taylor's original short screenplay "The Deprogrammer" was the inspiration for the 1994 Spike Lee-produced film "Drop Squad."

The film primarily focuses on African-American characters trying to get others to regain their 'blackness.'

Taylor and the Rochester Association of Black Journalists will be presenting "Drop Squad" as part of the Black Cinema Series at The Little Theatre this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Taylor will take part in an audience talkback following the screening.

He joined us this morning to discuss the film, as well as some of his other work.
