Unique soccer tournament coming to town this weekend
Gates, N.Y. -- A soccer tournament founded by Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar Jr. will be in the Rochester area this weekend.
Neymar Jr.'s Five is a five-on-five tournament with more than 65,000 players taking part in more than 50 countries around the world. Representatives from more than a dozen U.S. cities, including Rochester, will eventually meet in Miami to compete for a spot in the world final in Brazil this summer.
The Rochester regional event is happening this Saturday at Total Sports Experience on Elmgrove Road in Gates, starting at 9 a.m. Ten of the 16 teams competing in Rochester are made up of refugees. Ashley Doerzbacher caught up with some of them this morning to learn more about the game and hear some of their stories.
