Auditions begin next weekend for Eddie Money Musical

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Do you want to be in a musical about the life of Eddie Money?

Auditions are scheduled to start this weekend for a new musical about Eddie Money’s life story.

Two Tickets to Paradise: The Eddie Money Musical will star Money himself, alongside a cast of actors. The musical is slated to debut at the Kodak Center on February 14, 2018 before traveling a 10-week East Coast tour.

The story will follow a young Eddie Money who starts out as a police officer in training, then becomes a rock star who travels the world.

Open auditions are scheduled to be held at the Kodak Center on Ridge Road.

Adult roles and ensemble (ages 16+) will audition on October 22 at noon or October 24 at 6:30 p.m. Those auditioning should come prepared with two contrasting, one-minute cuts from traditional Broadway shows. Anyone auditioning for the role of young Eddie Money should be prepared to perform “Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Baby Hold On.”

Youth roles (ages 7-14) will audition on October 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. The roles of Eddie’s younger sisters will be cast. Those auditioning should bring a one minute cut of a musical theatre piece.

All auditioners should come prepared to dance. No appointments are necessary.

Rehearsals are set to begin in late December in Rochester and will continue with work-shop previews through early February.

The cast must be available for a multi-state 10-week tour, starting in early March. Organizers are planning a nationwide tour that is slated to begin September 2018. Cast members will be compensated for Rochester performances based on role and time commitment. Extended contracts will be offered before the show goes on tour.

The show will be directed by Eric Vaughn Johnson, music directed by Yunjin Audrey Kim, and choreographed by Terri Filips Vaughan. John Campbell will be the Executive Producer for Eddie Money.

Money was one of the judges at the Kodak Center on West Ridge Road last month when hundreds of hopefuls competed for a chance to audition on ABC's American Idol.

Eddie Money Entertainment, Inc; Premier Theatre Productions; and the Rochester Association of Performing Arts (RAPA) are collaborating on the auditions.
