For 12th birthday, girl asks for gifts for homeless in Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Anna Ferreby turned 12 on Friday.
This year, she had a special request of her friends and family.
Instead of buying her presents, Anna asked for gift cards. She and her mother then rolled those cards up in pairs of socks to hand out to homeless men and women in Rochester.
"I see them sometimes when we're driving and stuff," Anna said. "And they don't have as much as us - so they need more. So I'm trying to give to them."
Nicole Ferreby, Anna's mother, says she is proud of her daughter.
"She's the kind of kid where, if she sees the need, she steps up to do her best," Nicole said.
She added that this is not the first time Anna has reached out to help others.
A couple of years ago, Anna used her birthday to raise money for rescue pets for adoption.
