Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A one-day free pet adoption event will be happening on Saturday, September 16.

The event will be held at the Rochester Animal Services shelter on Verona Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It is part of Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty The Shelters Campaign.

Adoption fees will be waived for all cats and dogs six months of age and older.

Anyone who is adopting should bring a collar and leash or pet carrier to ensure that pets can be transported to their new homes safely.

Ninety percent of people who adopted pets as part of previous Empty The Shelters campaigns said they planned to adopt again.
