Mercy Flight paramedic who died of melanoma honored with blood drive
Perinton, N.Y. (WHAM) - The memory of a local man was honored Wednesday who dedicated his life to saving lives.
Scott Reese died in August after a battle with melanoma. He worked as a Mercy Flight paramedic and ambulance volunteer.
Reese was also an avid blood donor. Because of that passion, a blood drive was held in his memory at Perinton Ambulance.
"I would ask anyone that is able to donate blood to please do so," Erin said. "Please give the patient and their family the opportunity we were given - the memories we were gifted. Without those transfusions, Scott's battle would have ended much sooner than it did. We are eternally grateful to have had the time and memories we have had; it means more than you know. Do it for people like my husband - do it for someone who has received blood after an accident."
The American Red Cross is teaming up with Dunkin' Donuts this month to increase donations. People who come out to give blood will receive a $5 Dunkin' Donuts gift card.
