BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The search for a missing Buffalo police officer in the Niagara River is no longer a search and rescue mission. As of Sunday morning, it is a search mission, according to WKBW.

A days long search continues in the Niagara River for a member of the Buffalo Police Department's underwater recovery team who went missing during a training exercise.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the diver went missing around 1 p.m. Friday. Several agencies have been involved in the search by boat and helicopter.

Coast Guard officials say that during the search, it was discovered the diver's cable had broken off. The diver's secondary dive tanks have been recovered.

The missing diver has been identified as Craig Lehner, 34, according to WKBW.

Rochester Police arrived at the scene Saturday to help with the search efforts.

On Sunday, Rochester P.D. Deputy Chief Scott Peters gave an update from the scene.

11 divers from the Rochester area are helping, according to WKBW.
