RCSD teacher on leave amid 'inappropriate relationship' allegations
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A teacher at the World of Inquiry School in Rochester has been placed on leave following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
In a letter sent to families of the students on Friday, Principal Sheelerani Webster said there are allegations that one of the high school teachers had "an inappropriate relationship" with a high school student at World of Inquiry School No. 58.
Upon learning about the allegations, the district immediately placed the teacher on leave pending a review.
The district said it has no reason to believe any other students are involved.
Another portion of the letter from Principal Webster said, "We regret having to share this news, which creates a painful situation for everyone involved. We ask our entire community to respect the privacy of our students, families and staff as the District concludes its review."
Rochester Police said they were made aware of the incident. There have not yet been any arrests in this case.
The Rochester Board of Education will be convening an emergency special meeting Friday at 4:30 p.m. related to the allegations.
