Sodus, N.Y. (WHAM) - Wayne County Sheriff's deputies are searching a farm property in Sodus for a young mother and her 14-month-old baby after she was declared missing.

Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, 18, and her son Owen were last seen on May 16 in the area of Joy Road in Sodus.

On Wednesday morning, at least 20 deputies went out into an orchard along Joy Road to search the property. The property is owned by Williams Cattle.

The Medical Examiner arrived on scene around 1 p.m., according to witnesses.

An AMBER Alert was not issued because this situation does not meet the criteria stipulated by an alert, according to a deputy who was searching.

Family and friends of Selena held a news conference mid-morning on Wednesday, calling on the community to help find them.

They also put out a plea to Selena.

"She has immigration court on June 5th," said "If she is worried about that - please call us. There's things that can be fixed. Please call your mom. She is very sad, very worried."

Hidalgo-Calderon is from Guatemala and has lived in the U.S. since 2016.

Deputies paused their search efforts Wednesday night and are expected to resume Thursday.
