What to do with that dying Christmas tree

(WHAM) - Christmas season is on its way out - and those trees are going with it.

Towns and villages across the Rochester region have different policies when it comes to disposing of trees.

Monroe County has compiled a list of where people can bring their trees to be dropped off or which towns and villages can pick them up at the curbs. You can see the full list here.

All decorations, plastic bags, wires and nails from trees should be removed avoid damaging equipment.

A list of waste disposal company policies are below:

K&D Disposal: Trees are accepted as waste for regular pickup

Waste Management: Trees are accepted as waste for regular pickup as long as they are cut in half. Segments should be no longer than four feet.

Town & Country Disposal: Trees are accepted as waste for regular pickup as long as they are cut in half

Lilac Disposal: Trees are accepted as waste for regular pickup as long as they are cut in half. Segments should be no longer than four feet.

Suburban Disposal: Call Suburban Disposal on your assigned pickup day to notify them about the addition of a tree.
