Columbus Police said an arrest was made in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old mortuary student. Anthony Pardon was arrested at his home in the Linden neighborhood Thursday night and charged with murder.

Court documents revealed Rachael Anderson was tortured, and the Pardon was accused of using her car and debit card to steal money from her bank account.

Anderson had recently moved to Columbus to study to be a mortician. She was discovered "concealed" in a closet in her east Columbus apartment on January 29th. Court documents showed she died of asphyxiation.

She was nearing the end of an apprenticeship at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, and when she didn't show up for work, co-workers called the police.

Pardon has a violent criminal past going back decades, including convictions for attempted murder, robbery, and rape in Franklin County in 1982. Initially, Columbus Police instructed ABC 6/ FOX 28 to not release his name or his image due to a chance of compromising another investigation.

Police say additional charges will follow after Pardon's arrest.

ABC 6/FOX 28 will continue to update this developing story.
