New campaign seeks to help those interested in adoption

Alicia Dougherty (center) of Pittsford joined us on Good Day Rochester to share her story of adopting and eventually becoming pregnant.

In honor of National Adoption Month, there's a new campaign meant to encourage adoption.

Parenthood for Me's Campaign for Hope encourages donations of $18 to help the millions of Americans who struggle with infertility and seek other options for starting a family, including adoption and in vitro fertilization.

Alicia Dougherty of Pittsford and her husband struggled with infertility and pregnancy losses for 9 years until they adopted. They ended up adopting or fostering other kids, and eventually had three children through pregnancy as well. Dougherty joined us on Good Day Rochester this morning to share her story, along with Erica Walther Schlaefer from Parenthood for Me.
