Pets spreading cheer at URMC

Eve, Kendall and Alex are all part of the PETS program, helping cheer up patients at URMC facilities all year long.

For nearly two decades now, pets have been providing therapy to patients at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Founded in 2000, the PETS (Pets Engaged in Therapeutic Socialization) program has provided pet therapy at Strong Memorial Hospital, Golisano Children's Hospital and Wilmot Cancer Center.

Program managers Ann Lacey and Kathy Richards joined us on Good Day Rochester to explain how the program works, how it started, how it helps patients, and how you can get involved.
