The Special Olympics is looking for volunteers for the upcoming New York Winter Games.
Service Volunteers must be 13 years or older and be willing to commit their day to the athletes by taking on jobs that include set up, athlete escorts, stagers, timers or scorekeepers.
You can also volunteer as a Social Ambassador, which involves capturing the moments during the games and publishing it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
Other types of volunteers include being fans in the stands. Many athletes travel far and do not always have the opportunity for their families to attend and cheer them on. That's where the cheer volunteers come in, to cheer on the athletes during competition.
The Special Olympics New York Winter Games will be in Rochester from February 22-24, 2019. Nearly 1,000 athletes and coaches will travel from around the state to compete.
