URMC study helping bladder cancer patients


A local doctor is breaking ground on cancer treatment that's having a major impact for bladder cancer patients.

Dr. Edward Messing, a urologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, has found a way to help prevent bladder cancer from returning after surgery.

Messing uses a chemotherapy drug called gemcitabine on his patients after surgery.

He joined us on Good Day Rochester, along with bladder cancer survivor Manny Tuccio, to explain.
