Holidays at the Market adds extra weekend

The Rochester Public Market is adding an additional Sunday to this year's Holidays at the Market series.

Rochester, N.Y. -- Holidays at the Market is so popular, organizers decided to an extra weekend for shoppers at the Rochester Public Market ahead of Christmas.

This upcoming Sunday was supposed to be the last of three, but the city has added a fourth Sunday to the Holidays at the Market, set for Dec. 17.

The event runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with dozens of holiday vendors, crafts and special events.

This Sunday marks the annual Holiday Cookie Contest. You can take part in the contest by submitting a dozen cookies to the Public Market office Saturday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. Judging begins Sunday at noon.

Ashley Doerzbacher is one of the judges. She was at the Public Market this morning to explain more about the contest and explain what else is happening and why Holidays at the Market has become a Christmastime tradition for some people.
