Good Day Rochester kicked off "Made in our Hometown" week on Monday, where we learn more about manufacturing in our region. Ashley Doerzbacher visited Hammer Packaging, which makes and prints most of those iconic labels you see around the country, the world and right in your own home.
The Monroe County-based business has two facilities - one in Gates and one in Henrietta. It has been around for more than 100 years and continues to grow.
Each year, the company prints nearly 23 billion labels for products that most of us see each day in our cupboards.
"This is just one particular press and the variety of work it does," said Lou Lovoli, senior vice president of Hammer Packaging. "Mott's, Jones Soda, you have Campbell's Soup, V8 Splash. So you can see we go through a wide variety of materials, major consumer product companies and we're doing all their brands."
