Tractor on fire sets Spencerport farm field ablaze

Spencerport, N.Y. (WHAM) - Fire companies put out a fire in a field in Spencerport late Monday morning.

The fire was in a field off of Rt. 259 near Rt. 531. The field is owned by Colby Homestead Farms.

Spencerport Fire Chief Mitch Flagg said 10-12 acres of grass and hay was on fire. Fire departments from Monroe, Genesee and Orleans Counties were on scene to fight the flames.

Route 531 was closed for about an hour in both directions between Union Street and Washington Street due to the smoke from the fire. The road has since reopened.

No one was injured.
