Albany, N.Y. (WHAM) - Governor Andrew Cuomo's administration added a new member Monday who will require some training - of the potty variety.

Captain is a 14-week-old Siberian-Shepherd mix. Cuomo said his daughters gave him the idea with a strong hint.

Governor Cuomo: You have a number of administration officials here today. I want to introduce you to the newest member of the administration today, recently joined. We're still in transition. This is the newest member. His name is Captain.

"The puppy is working on housebreaking," Cuomo told reporters Monday. "We call it mansion training here."

Cuomo joked that he wanted to name him Excelsior, after the state motto.

Captain isn't the first animal to join the governor's family. His longtime girlfriend, Food Network star Sandra Lee, has two white cockatoos named Phoenix and Halo.
