Lyons, N.Y. (WHAM) - A jury convicted a Wayne County man of murdering a Sodus woman in the fall of 2016.

According to our news partners at the Times of Wayne County, 61-year-old Alvin Pinkard was found guilty of second-degree murder Thursday in the death of Josephine Chiaverini.

The jury debated for less than five hours before coming back with a guilty verdict.

State Police say Chiaverini, 57, was found dead on her back porch on October 6, 2016 after a family member requested police to check on her well-being at her house on Joy Road.

Pinkard was Chiaverini's ex-boyfriend, according to family members.

An assistant district attorney tells 13WHAM Pinkard told investigators he called Chiaverini, and he was subsequently arrested for violating an order of protection.

Pinkard is scheduled to be sentenced on July 19.
