Marion, N.Y. (WHAM) - A man from Marion is dead after a car crash in Marion Sunday night.

State Police said the crash happened Sunday night on East Williamson Road near Podger Road.

The crash was not reported to authorities until nearly 16 hours later around 1 p.m. Monday.

State Police Trooper Mark O'Donnell said troopers spoke with neighbors, who say they heard a loud bang or crash noise around 9:30 p.m. They looked outside, but did not see anything.

When investigators arrived on scene Monday afternoon, they said the vehicle was partially submerged in the creek on the side of the road.

Troopers spotted one person inside the vehicle who was dead. He has been identified as 35-year-old Adam Vitalone of Buffalo Street in Marion.

An early investigation led troopers to believe the car was driving south on the road when it crossed over the road and flipped.

Weather is believed to have played at least a partial road in this crash.
