Work begins to clean up former Shadow Pines property
Penfield, N.Y. (WHAM) - Clean up is underway as of Monday at the former Shadow Pines Golf Course in Penfield.
The town of Penfield officially purchased the property last month. The 206-acre property was purchased from Dolomite/Oldcastle after a plan was approved by voters.
In February, hundreds of voters approved a measure by the town to borrow more than $3.6 million to purchase the property.
Crews have begun cutting grass, cleaning up buildings and clearing damaged trees. The work will continue through the rest of the week.
There is no final plan yet on what the town will do with the land. The property is currently designated for "general municipal use," which allows it to be used for a variety of functions. Some of that could include a combination of open space, passive and active recreation; a community center, library, lodge, or other public facilities.
More information on the purchase and potential plans for the property can be found online here.
