WASHINGTON (Circa) - President Donald Trump took to social media on Tuesday morning claiming Democrats "mistakenly" tweeted 2014 images of immigrant children in cages.

Trump tweeted "Democrats mistakenly tweet 2014 pictures from Obama’s term showing children from the border in steel cages. They thought it was recent pictures in order to make us look bad, but backfires."

The president also stated that it was time for Democrats to support his border wall idea.

This tweet comes shortly after the acting assistant secretary for Children and Families at the Department of Health And Human Services, Steven Wagner, comments on the whereabouts of immigrant children during his testimony before the Senate last week. He stated the department was "unable to determine" where some 1,500 immigrant may be located.

On Sunday, the president's daughter's tweet also gained harsh criticism on Sunday for her tweet. Critics called the tweet "tone deaf" amid reports of immigrant families along the U.S. Mexico border being separated or children going unaccounted for by the government.

The tweet depicted Ivanka holding her son and was captioned “My <3! #SundayMorning."
