Mcquaid boys, Spencerport Aquinas and Wheatland-Chili girls claim state championships
What a day it was for Section V soccer. Two outright champs, two co-champs, and one state runner-up.
The McQuaid boys cruised past Half Hollow Hills West 6-0 to win the AA crown and may very well end the season as the number one team in the country.
The Wheatland-Chili girls met more of a challenge from Poland, but the Wildcats clawed their way to a second-straight state title 3-2 in OT.
Meanwhile, the Spencerport and Aquinas girls have to share their titles with their opponents, but have plenty of reason to smile anyways. The Lady Rangers repeated as champs, being named co-champs with Pearl River after a 2-2 draw. The Lil' Irish also drew even with Westhill 2-2, earning a share of the Class B crown.
The Elba/Byron-Bergen boys came out on the short end of overtime in the Class C title game, falling 2-1
