In recent years, Section V has had more than its fair share of success against its football counterparts from Section VI. Just last season, two teams from Section V made the state finals (Victor and Athena).

This year, not a single one advanced past the far-west regionals.

Aquinas, Hornell, and Cal-Mum/BB all lost on Saturday. After losses by Wilson and Clyde-Savannah Friday, no Section V teams are left standing and the football season in the Rochester area is effectively over.
